How to extract GIF frames

Add your GIF
Drop in any animated GIF — the frame count shows as soon as it's read.
Pick a format
PNG keeps transparency, JPG flattens onto white and makes smaller files.
Download
Get every frame numbered in order — one ZIP, or the single frame directly.
Every frame, in order, on your device
The frame count shows before you commit, and files never leave your browser.
Private by design
Every operation runs inside your browser. Your images are never uploaded anywhere.
Free & unlimited
No accounts, no daily caps, no watermarks stamped on your files. Ever.
Up to 500 frames
Frames are decoded and saved one at a time, so even long animations run light — GIFs above 500 frames are declined up front.

Any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
Animation to stills
Sprite sheets from game loops, the right reaction face from a chat GIF, sticker frames to reuse as stills, or one clean frame for a thumbnail — a GIF becomes usable the moment you can pick its frames apart.

GIF frame extraction FAQ
Which format should I pick, PNG or JPG?
PNG for most cases: it is lossless and keeps transparent areas, which GIF frames often have. JPG makes smaller files but flattens transparency onto white — fine for photos, wrong for logos and sprites.
What is the frame limit?
500 frames per GIF. Frames are processed one at a time to keep memory low, and GIFs above the limit are declined when you upload them, with the reason shown.
Do the frames keep their order?
Yes. Frames are numbered 001, 002, 003 in the order they play, and the ZIP keeps those names, so any viewer sorts them correctly.
What does a single-frame GIF return?
The one frame as a direct image download, with no ZIP around it.
Which files does it accept?
Animated GIFs only. To turn photos into a GIF, use the JPG to GIF tool; to grab just the first frame of a GIF as a still, GIF to PNG does that in batch.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding and encoding run entirely in your browser — the GIF never leaves your device.
