Frequently asked questions

Why do iPhone photos come out as HEIC?

HEIC saves photos at roughly half the size of JPG at the same quality, so Apple uses it by default. The trade-off: many non-Apple apps and devices cannot open it.

Does the conversion lose quality?

Images are decoded from HEIC and saved as high-quality JPG. The change is visually negligible for photos destined for sharing, email, and the web.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Decoding happens entirely in your browser on your own device — even on Windows and Android, where the browser itself does not understand HEIC.
